Model United Nations(MUN) is a simulation of United Nations. It is a very interactive program that aims to develop the skills of leadership, diplomacy and co-operation among the participants. Me along with my mates at Youth Thinkers Society-Lamjung(YTS-Lamjung) most recently conducted a national level MUN conference at Besisahar, Lamjung from 29-30 May. The conference was held on two committee WFP and ECOSOC. And I had the opportunity to participate as the director of the WFP committee on the agenda" Climate Change and Food security". The committee consisted of 30 different delegates representing 30 countries of UN from different district of Nepal. The committee ran for 2 days and it discussed in this global agenda and finally a resolution was passed in the final day.
On the first day the delegates raised motions on the rising issues like" Carbon pricing to reduce the green house emission", "Climate Smart Agriculture(CSA)", "Reduction of Green Gas Emission by supporting Clean Technology", "Forestation, a weapon to nullify climate change", "Renewable energy for climate resilient green economy", "Reducing the nuclear reactor", "Extension of media technology for to fight climate change", "Working together to beat the issues of climate changes" and many more. All day long debates were done by the delegates who presented their own views on  causes and solutions to the problems. The same debate continued on DAy-2 but at the end of the day all the delegates came to a common understanding and proposed a resolution to all this issues.
The resolution included some solutions to be taken by all the countries of the world to solve this common problem. The resolution included some importent solutions like cutting of the GHG emission by the developed nations and providing green fund to the underdeveloped country with proper supervisions to prevent its misuse, increasing the forest area of the world by 30% till 2030, Developed countries helping to develop CSA in under developed ones, Replacing hydro and nuclear energy by solar energy, technology transfer from developed to underdeveloped country and many more. Finally the conference ended with a great success and we became successful in showing the youths their role in protection of earth.
