World Wetland day :A grand success |

Before two years I was same me, Aabha Pokharel but that Aabha was completely unknown about feb 2 "Wetland Day" and today I am proud to say Yes, Feb 2 is the important day for all environmentalist as we celebrate it as "World Wetland day". A wetland is a land area that is saturated with water, either permanently or seasonally, such that it takes on the characteristics of a distinct ecosystem. This year, we all Environmental Science students from SMC came together and made a small visit to one of the wet land "20 thousand lake" and coordinate the awareness program for the preservation of wetland . Many NGOs, clubs and media coordinate with us. We started with a small rally from our own college to the market areas, with the pamphlets in hands where we include some awareness slogans in our own Nepali language and English too. We all do respect our wetland, our earth, water, air and here we start our program with our culture by worshipping them, thanking them for helping us to survive. We include a small drama for villagers and students representing the present situation of wetland, ecosystem managed by wetlands and importance of wetlands. In silent character we act being animals and show a type of food chain and from discussion we aware villagers not to pollute wetland and about proper use of fertilizers. Like this way we all youth celebrate our Wetland day and take a next step towards eco friendly environment . |
