Seeing the above title it looks like as if it is a poem or a story but the fact it is the regular schedule of many Nepalese like me . God has been very kind to our country to provide unlimited natural resources as it is second richest country in the world in natural resources but why we are facing problems like this? Factories, hospitals, mills.......??....They are forced to be paralyzed, while countries in the west move towards enlightenment, Nepal is moving towards darkness. The country suffering at the hands of corrupt politicians has much graver problems and one of them is load shedding. It is the 21st century and we are still waiting for the lights. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has increased power outage to up to 14 hours a day starting since Monday. The increment in the daily power cut is attributed to the reduced water levels in the river and increasing demand for power, shared chief of Load Dispatch Centre, NEA. With the revised load shedding schedule, there will be 84 hours of power cut per week with adjusted timetable for the power cut in the morning and evening in view of public convenience. Although a total of 43 operating hydro electricity projects produce some 718 megawatts of electricity in the country, the power production drops by 50 per cent during the winter as many such projects are run-of-the-river type, as per NEA. Only 300 megawatts of electricity is being transmitted to the central transmission line. Some 230 megawatts of power is being imported from India at present. The power demand in the country has soared to 1,800 megawatts following the border blockade as the import of fuel, including LPG gas, has been disrupted. On such load shedding hours how can we continue our works? I think it is harder even to imagine the 24 hr day with 14 hr power off! We students are forced to suffer the most. I post this article here not to show my country is poor in electricity , as the brilliants thinkers are here lets rise a voice for the sake of NEPAL , we can think of its alternatives . |

Especially for students like us, the power cut or loadshedding emerged as the greatest headache. For this we should seek for alternatives like inverters and solar panels. These are costly :( but we have no option. Nepal government should make alternative energy feasible at affordable cost to the nepalese people. Anyway, thanks for sharing sis :)

Let the youth raise up to start thinking of adding value to their society .
God bless Nigeria, God bless Nepal

Everyone cannot afford solar panels and its really difficult to run industries through solar panels well ,I heard about your community , well done !
but , the main source hydro powers should be run as we have more potentialities .

Yes, this load shedding is our problem but we people are using solar panels and replacing the use of electricity. They are being aware about alternative source . Thank you for sharing this report .

yeah , Tanvirjit thanks for your idea .

There is need for better infrastructure in your country .
The government can't generate power from hydro electricity all over the year , since in winters the water in lakes and rivers is less or frozen , so they need to build an alternate infrastructure , may it be Wind mills for wind energy or Solar panels for Solar Energy .
The Government needs to act smartly , eco-friendly and to the earliest , so that people can live a hassle free life .

yes, sis it is the big problem !
Even my invert-er stopped few days ago due to low power supply . :( :(

thanks Christly Lee , yeah I don't have any problem of electricity as we have solar panel for household work and generator for industrial work . Through title I symbolized the problem of all Nepali , solar panels is the best alternative but the fact is that there are Lot's of people in my country who cannot afford even the solar panel .
They are fully dependent on 14 hrs power cut per day , still our government is silent , we can use the hydro powers as we are richest in the world but my single word cannot do any thing .
It is a big problem for us and I am looking for a big solution .

Thank you for sharing the detailed report on the energy supply in Nepal. Thanks to our Eco-generation Family, we can get always net and fresh information from all over the globe. So proud :-) Maybe a solar panel would be needed to go on using your laptop without electric cut.
