Air Pollution: Good for the Climate? |
---|
The link above shares recent viewpoints of climate economists Stefan Ambec and Jessica Coria, that ?efforts to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and efforts to reduce pollutants are not always complementary.? It is clear that air pollution is one of the most highlighted major issue in the intersection between environment and human health. What I found this article to be interesting is the part in which it raised the need for us to think comprehensively (thus, globally) and anticipate the raising of other greenhouse gases following reduction of carbon emissions, as an unintended consequence. The concern gets even more bell-ringing as we are nearing the Paris 2015 international climate change agreement. Indeed, it is never easy to come up with near-perfect policy instrument that satisfies both science and society. Yet the article also mentioned about the capability of technology in helping such effort. |
