Teaching is difficult but it really feels great being particularly an environment teacher for a while. The moment with secondary level school students taking Eco class was really exciting. Presenting facts about the current scenario of environment in the Nepal?s context and the world as a whole it made me feel more responsible towards the environment conservation.
The class was more an interaction than a lecture class. It started with our introduction and few words from my friends Mr. Rahul Acharya 13th eco-gen. regional ambassador, Ms. Aksana Dallakoti and Mr. Shishir Dhakal Eco-gen. members.
A green quiz was held asking the students to choose the answers from multiple choices to test how green are they, regarding the daily human activities affecting the environment directly or indirectly. After they answered all those, an interaction occurred based on the facts of environment deterioration, various components of environment like air, water, and soil etc. solid waste management (separation of biodegradable and non-degradable waste at household level for instance setting up two separate dustbins), climate change and their mitigating measures. A discussion was held based on what can be done for the mitigation and environment protection at youth?s level. I focused on the fact that conservation starts from one person when he doesn?t throw the wrappers of chocolates carelessly when the dustbin isn?t nearby but rather keeps in his pocket and throws in proper place that influences other people. If one person?s activity only can reduce the scattering of waste from 100% to 99 % then it?s also the reduction. It?s a beginning. It?s a gradual process of change. A slogan ?Be the change and change the world? was very impressive to them. They were writing five action plans they can do at their level and a commitment ? I WILL PROTECT MY ENVIRONMENT ?
It was really a great feeling.I was enjoying taking the Eco class. The students were keen to learn more about the facts and the adoption of the measures of conservation at their level.
Thanks Tunza for the materials. It was a great opportunity to make the students aware about ongoing facts of environmental changes and motivating them towards conservation.

As I am a fan of green quiz, can you share the list of green quiz some time?
By the way, I saw Rahul, one of my favorite ambassadors. How nice you are working with him!
