Kodaikanal's Anti-Plastic Rules

by | 25-02-2015 21:43 recommendations 0

Last summer I visited the beautiful hill station of Kodaikanal in India. I was glad to see the environmental conservation efforts made by the locals. One of these was the strict rules on the use of plastics.

Plastics are not used in packaging, glass bottles are used instead of plastic ones and the rules against the littering of the environment by plastics as there are a high number of tourists visiting the area. Frequent waste disposal centers are also present to aid all of this.

I had also visited one of the local restaurants and ordered takeaway and to my surprise and delight, it arrived in a package made out of a news-paper. This a was also another creative way of not using plastic.

I would like to thank the authorities of Kodaikanal for taking these efforts to conserve the environment.
