The 4th annual Maker Day was held on January 31st, 2015 at the GEMS Wellington Academy - Dubai Silicon Oasis. The show was hosted by GEMS Education. I had participated in ?Upcycling category? which required participants to make dresses out of materials recyclable. My dress drew inspiration from the use of aluminium cans found almost everywhere.
The base of the dress made from old jute fabric and net fabric. The lower portion of the dress is covered with cloth strips which were inserted into the aluminium can clips following a specific pattern. More than 500 aluminium can clips were collected to make this dress.
The show saw dresses made from plastic bags, newspaper, tarpaulin, etc. It threw light on how one could recycle and reuse creatively.

Thanks Swathy. I thought the one who is wearing is the one who made/designed it as well.
