A large swathe of land along the banks of Narayani River in Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts have deluged, displacing hundreds of people, as the river has drastically risen above the danger mark for the first time in a decade.

Continuous rainfall has led to a record flow of water in theNarayani River this year.

Floods in the Narayani River has led to a water flow at around 250,000 cusec per second. As a result of the rising level of water current in the river, locals in Susta and Paklihawa remain at a risk of being inundated by the river.

The river has already washed away many areas of arable land and there is a risk of 16 villages being inundated, locals have said.

The villages at risk include among others Paklihawa, Thulokhairatawa, Narsahi, Guthiprasauni, Bhjahawa, Pratappur, Kudiya and Rupauliya.
