Sheikh Mohammed , UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, has named Ramadan 19th (19th day of Ramadan), the death anniversary of the founding father of the UAE , late Sheikh Zayed ,as the "Emirati Humanitarian Work Day". Sheikh Zayed was the humanitarian leader . So on Ramadan 19, which this year corresponds to July 28( actually starts from 27th July night till 28th july ), there would be many humanitarian activities around UAE to observe the commemoration anniversary of Sheikh Zayed, who implanted the seeds of humanitarian work in the UAE. I , being resident of UAE , proudly share with you few of the humanitarian activities planned for "Emirati Humanitarian Work Day": 1. Dubai Chamber, with ?Adopt-a-Camp? has organised Ramadan Care Packages event on July 27 and 28, is looking forward to attract around 10,000 volunteers who will help collect and pack 5,000 boxes of personal care items for distribution at a labour camp. 2. Charity Auction :UAE Financial Markets Association organise charity auction to sell off Islamic gold and silver coins. The auction will take place on Ramadan 19 (Sunday) in Atlantis the Palm Hotel. Other items on sale include Arabic calligraphy artworks of poems written by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Abayas embroidered with Shaikh Zayed?s poems in the form of Arabic calligraphy will also be sold during the auction. The prices of items on sale will range from Dh500 to Dh500,000. A number of prominent jewellers will participate in the auction by providing gold jewellery inset with precious stones. 3. ?Noor Al Hayat? Project ( in collaboration with Noor Dubai) for the Prevention and Treatment of 1 Million Patients suffering from sight ailments in different regions of the world. 4. Sheikh Mohammed, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given orders to increase the number of beneficiaries of the 'Dress a Million Children' campaign as it has already reached its target of clothing one million underprivileged children around the world. Launched ten days ago by Sheikh Mohammed, the campaign was scheduled to end on 19 Ramadan to coincide with Emirati Humanitarian Work Day. The high-profile campaign has started the distribution of donated clothes to a large number of children in Bosnia, Yemen, Lebanon, Tanzania, Zanzibar as well as to Syrian children in Lebanon and Jordan. The initiatives of Sheikh Mohammed represent his unlimited gift of giving in his efforts to help generate welfare and prosperity for all, and which reiterate His Highness' firm humanitarian approach and orientation, confirming that the UAE community is a humanist society based on tolerance and helping for others. This humanitarian approach shows that the UAE is open to the world and cares about communities and groups that need help, aid and support, thanks to the spirit of generosity established by the founding fathers, which grow with the progress of UAE society.
