Singapore air pollution is reaching alarming level-pollution due to forest fires of Indonesia

I want to share with you all the worst ever Singapore Pollution index of 173 due to smoky haze triggered by forest fires in neighbouring Indonesia . This air pollution has hit its worst level in nearly 16 years.

Singaporeans rolled back military training, kept cough-stricken children indoors and considered wearing protective masks to work on Tuesday after a Singapore is shrouded in haze as on today as smoke from forest fires in nearby Sumatra drifted across the Malacca Strait in the city's worst pollution crisis in more than a decade. Buildings in the city of 5.3 million people have been enveloped in a smoky haze since the beginning of the week as illegal burn off in nearby Indonesia and prevailing winds were causing a smoke crisis not seen since 1997.

The Pollutant Standards Index, Singapore's main measure to determine air quality, crept into the "unhealthy" classification on Monday as smoke from roaring blazes on Indonesia's Sumatra island drifted across the sea and cast a gray pall over the city-state's skyscrapers. The index reached a reading of 155 on Monday night, the highest level since late 1997. On Tuesday, the reading mostly hovered between 104 and 123, still within the "unhealthy" range of between 101 and 200. Now , on Wednesday it reached 173, the worst level since 1997

The city's National Environment Agency said air quality becomes 'very unhealthy' when the index passes 200. The agency said that thick haze would continue for the next few days as forest fires were still raging in Sumatra. In such crisis , more respiratory problems are bound to occur.

It's terrible! Every moment we breath without noticing it. That quality of air means the people living there are slowly dying.
