?Give your books a new life?, this advertisement caught my immediate attention. It was encouraged by Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) to donate used books in good condition. This was a noble environmental cause. Otherwise people just throw the old books in garbage. By recycling the used books it serves three benefits one is save the landfills by another load & another is a person can have access to books that are otherwise expensive and finally the charity raise some money by selling the used books at a nominal price.
I have a mini library at home with approx. 2,000 books. Encouraged to donate I set aside 100 books & contacted the SCHS. They welcomed my contribution & thanked profusely. This motivated me to run a small campaign in my building. I put up notices everywhere asking the people to donate used books. I got another chunk of 75 books donated by the kind neighbors. On my second visit I was told by the Marketing head that they have collected more than 200,000 books for the used book fair & he kindly invited me to be a volunteer at the fair. I immediately accepted the offer & performed the services to arrange books on the preceding evening on 25th Feb & also served on all 4 days of the fair 26th. Feb to 1st March at Sharjah cornice.
I performed practically all the duties at the fair viz. Donating the books myself, encouraging others to donate, Sort the books before the fair, Stamping & pricing the books as per instructions, help public to select books, Guide them at various stalls, performed the cashier helping services also.
My heart filled with love to the special children for whom the kind Sharjah government is doing so much. I wish to mention here that public donated books in excellent condition. They were useful for all ages starting from 1 year old to 90 year old. They were in all subjects and for all age groups. The fair was visited a large population & it was a grand success where approx. 200,000 books exchanged hands.. I thank all my friends for their contribution and participation in the fair It was a time well spent for a noble cause.
I encourage all my global members of Tunza eco-generation to conduct similar campaigns in their respective countries so that the benefits may be spread globally. As this is great eco friendly idea of making the best use of used books & saving the environment.

Thanks for the idea. I also have an immense library at home. Will make sure it lasts longer than it would in my own home :)
