Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Instead it uses substitutes of soil like gravel, pebbles, bricks etc. Plants only absorb the ions of energy in the water which is in the soil. If those ions of energy are dissolved in water then the plant does not need soil. It is a very efficient way of cultivating crops. Hydroponics conserves a lot of water. The water in a hydroponics system is reused continuously.It uses about 1/10th of the water used in soil cultivation. It also uses lesser space and gives a higher yield. In a farm, a farmer has to plough and weed the soil. Hydroponics saves him that pain.The initial setting up of a hydroponic system can be expensive but the high yields, water and nutrient conservation and relief from soil related issues covers up for it. |

Thanks for sharing!
I think that hydroponics is rather advantageous There are no worries about the changing seasons and crops can be grown all year round. The water being saved is also a big plus point.
But I'd like to ask, won't water-based microbes be introduced during this method?

Thank you for sharing this! Is the cost higher than traditional farming methods? If so, are there any ways to reduce the price difference?
I also learned that hydroponic plants tends to be slimmer and weaker than the traditional ones. So I really don't think you can grow a tree :)

Mona- You can grow trees hydroponically but youll have to scale everything up. The containers, nutrient amount, water etc. But I dont think you can do it with really large trees like Banyan. I would love more information on the topic!

Hydroponics is really one of the most innovative agriculture practice we can implement these days. I hope more communities and individuals will be able to do these so we can replenish the loss we had from cutting trees for urbanization. Thanks for sharing!
