25-04-2015
It was 11:56 am when Nepal was appalled by a deadliest earthquake ever in the history which caused abysmal desolation of thousands of innocent life and ram of several important historical architectures too. That day,Nepal was hit by a 7.6 Richter Scale earthquake which marked a black day for Nepal and Nepalese. It is certain that it took many human life but also devastated our history too. Nine-storeyed "Dharahara" in Kathmandu built in 1832 by late prime minister Bhimsen Thapa which was of great historical importance is no more along with several temples and monuments listed in World Heritage sites like Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur durbar Square. The capital along with Gorkha,Sindhupalchowk,Nuwakot,Lalitpur,Bhaktapur faced more deadliest devastation compared to other parts of the country. More than 100 tremors were occoured as reported after the major quake. It made several tall buildings turned into small junk of sands in seconds. So far, the death toll has already crossed 5000 mark. It is still to be increased because the rescue teams are unable to reach the major devasted areas outside the capital.Outside the Kathmandu valley, many injured victims are forced to die because of the lack of food, medicine and water. Many people are still buried inside the debris.People are are forced to leave their home and stay outside in open areas in tents. In this situation we can face another devastation of human life as there is maximum chance of outbreak of epidemics because of the lack of sanitation in those open areas. Previous devastation was out of our control but yes we can definitely control the upcoming dangers by joining hands together and focusing on sanitation in those areas. We the youths of an environmental organization "Youth In Action" are focusing on the awareness about those health issues and sanitation. HOPE(Hold On-Pain Ends) we will bounce back again by the combined efforts of all!!
