HAPPY EARTH DAY! Earth Day Jam 2015

by Jayson Villeza | 30-04-2015 01:39 recommendations 0

It was the 45th Earth Day celebration worldwide. I did my things to do on that day. I shared messages through my social media account and through texts to my friends. It's the only thing that I can do to inform everybody on that April 22, 2015 since I am working.

Fast forward to Friday April 24, 2015. My girlfriend and I attended the Earth Day Jam in the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig after our office work. It's one of the most anticipated events for the environment every year. Earth Day Jam is celebrated on a Friday after Earth Day itself if April 22 does not fall on a Friday. Many people go to this event as it is for free! Earth Day Jam aims to inspire all people especially the youth through music from the local bands. It has been running for 15 years offering music for the environment.

It was our second time to attend the event and we enjoyed it. Although we were late due to traffic that most of the booths were already closed, the booths of the government agencies and other institutions are still open. We went first to the Earth Day Jam booth to buy a souvenir shirt. Then off we go to the Climate Change Commission (CCC) booth after we listened to the current band. We solved the infographic puzzle about an environmental application for smartphones. The booth was already packed up that we didn't expect that they would give us prizes after solving the puzzle as we assumed all freebies had already been given.
Next, we went to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) booth and readily the staffs there gave us educational materials. We were so happy for we got many of the coloring books that we can give to children.

After that, we watched the presentation shown at the large screen from the stage which showcases the previous years of Earth Day celebration. The consistency of support from the local bands gain inspiration from the youth to become nature loving people. We listened to another band's set of songs before we went home. We learned a lot that night. The greeting said by the emcee "Makakalikasang gabi!" which translates to nature-loving(makakalikasan) evening (gabi) is what we used to greet each other to shout out our love for the environment.

Hopefully next year we'll be able to bring more people in the said event and other events which will help us save our Earth. :)
GREENERATION. A summit intended for the environment. The souvenir shirt plus the notebook prize we got at the Climate Change Commission booth. The people from the DENR enjoying the music. These were the freebies in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Booth. Coloring books and Educational materials. This is me. It took us some good 15 minutes to finish this one. We did it! My girlfriend trying to solve the puzzle. The spectators of the Earth Day Jam. My post to our organization in my alma matter. One of my posts which aims to inform the importance of green living.
