FEC UNVEILS ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY PLAN |

The perennial power challenges plaguing Nigerians particularly those in rural areas, coupled with the terrible sound pollution (with its poisonous fumes) from electric generating sets that defile the night calmness may soon be a subject for the history classes if the plans laid down to that effect goes beyond lip service. The Nigerian government on Wednesday 6th of May 2015 after her weekly Federal Executive Council meeting approved a draft policy on renewable energy. This means that priority will be shifted from the traditional Gas-Turbine Hydro-Electric power to explore other sustainable forms of energy such as wind and solar. The minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Ositadinma Nebo explained that the policy will promote increased access to electricity by Nigerians and improve energy mix as well as energy security. However, I am skeptic that this project will see the light of day considering it is coming at the heels of political transition. It has become a common practice for every new administration to abandon or scrap programs instituted by their predecessors. No matter where the pendulum swings, we will keep them abreast of the gains of pitching tent with sustainable forms of energy. http://dailytimes.com.ng/fec-approves-draft-policy-on-renewable-energy/ |

It's very sad to know about the perennial power challenges in Nigeria (like Nepal) conjugated with sound pollution.I am hopeful the draft policy forwarded by Nigerien government be effective and successful in adopting sustainable, renewable sources of energy.
Thank you for sharing Dear Anthony, please keep updating about the progress :)
