Our day today started on a very heartwarming note as we walked into the Manzil classroom to encounter enthusiastic faces – despite being exam time, these students were all ears to all that we wanted to share with them. Lavanya, our speaker for the session, soon joined us. Lavanya proceeded to speak about her work and journey as a global change-maker. She then conducted an activity with the students about their aspirations while linking it to the over all theme of sustainability. The students created beautifully crafted models out of paper to depict the future that they envisioned. Far from listing Money or Fame as their priority, these budding participants had ?social service?, ?homeless people? and ?education? on their Agenda. We soon figured that we needed to learn more from them rather than they from us.

 After Lavanya?s talk, we moved onto a discussion on Climate Change and it?s impact on everyday life. The kids learnt about Renewable Energy Sources, debated upon the feasibility of Nuclear Power and questioned the increasing usage of fossil fuels. They displayed endless curiosity and eagerness to ask questions – both pre-requisites for a great learning experience.  They fondly recollected the visit of Sir Robert Swan to Manzil and expressed great interest at participating in Leadearthship activities. Our session concluded with the screening of two short films on ?Water? and ?Biodiversity? and the kids lovingly left their hand prints on our ?Impact Space? – a fitting reminder of the responsibility they have and their spirit to rise above obstacles.  If only we could think as clearly as children do, life would be so much easier!
