HOW I CELEBRATED WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY?

MY CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT ON WED World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment.The WED theme this year was "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care." The well-being of humanity, the environment, and the functioning of the economy, ultimately depend upon the responsible management of the planets natural resources. And yet, evidence is building that people are consuming far more natural resources than what the planet can sustainably provide. Many of the Earth?s ecosystems are nearing critical tipping points of depletion or irreversible change, pushed by high population growth and economic development. By 2050, if current consumption and production patterns remain the same and with a rising population expected to reach 9.6 billion, we will need three planets to sustain our ways of living and consumption.I , Meghana Fessy too wanted create some awareness to the people about the critical stage of the environment.I was really concerned about the effects of global warming and other environmental challengess.I wanted to do something really effective.So on the environment day week I kept creating awareness through many seminars,flyers,bookmarks etc.So first I began with a seminar about World Environment day,the global challenges we are facing ,their impacts,solutions etc in my school .The students too came across new terms and solutions to these problems .Then on 6th June I went to my church community and distributed flyers to all the people who came to worship and stuck posters on the walls.People appreciated me for my efforts to protect the earth.I was filled with a sense of pride.Then on 8th June I designed and distributed Bookmarks to my class mates and neighbours with a message.Then on 11th June I was part of the " GIVE A GHAF" where i contributed GHAF TREES in my name.By this I took a small step in eradicating Deforestation and global warming.Then after about 2 weeks I contributed 540 kg of Paper to The Emirates Environmental Group and got 2 trees planted in my name during their campaign "NEIGHBOURHOOD RECYCLING PROJECT" .I collected this much paper from my home,friends,neighbours, etc.Then I was part of the '' Save Paper,Save Trees,Save planet campaign''where we had to contributed 25 kg of paper , which will be given the The EEG.In this campaign, together we were able to save 1 ton paper and saved 17 matured trees.So by participating in all these activities, I was able to be a better and greener person and I was able to make a small positive impact on mother earth.
