Our country Nepal is the home of many rare and endangered species of animals and birds, spiny babbler, one horned rhino, Bengal tiger and many others. Especially one horned rhino, they are found in heart of Terai forest in oldest National park of Nepal, Chitwan National park.

Chitwan National park is the first national park in Nepal which was establishes in 1973 and granted the status in World Heritage Site in 1984. In altitude it ranges from 100 m in the river valley to 815 m to the Churia. The park headquarter is in Kasara where gharial and turtle conservation breeding center have been established.

 In 2008 Vulture breeding center was inaugurated aiming at holding up to 25 pairs of each of the two Gyps vulture species. This park is famous for bird conservation and birds watching too.

On world wildlife day, March 3, Nepal celebrated 365 days with zero poaching, no rhinos, tigers, or elephants were killed. In 2011 and 2012 only one rhino was poached, this is a success and improvement.

John Scanlon, Secretary general of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES) told that, Nepal's success is the result of strong and committed leadership, excellent national collaboration and actions leading to arrest key players at the top of the criminal chain. More than 700 criminals were arrested for wildlife related crimes.

This is true nowadays we are being success in protecting our rare animals and birds.Firstly rhino population fell from 612 to 380 but slowly the number of one horned rhino is increasing in Chitwan National park and other animals too. The number of Bengal Tiger is also increasing in Bardia National park.
