My Earth Day celebrations started at school. We at DPS, Sharjah celebrated the Earth Day with great fanfare and enthusiasm.

We planted trees in recyclable plastic bottles with the logo " We are going green" written on it.  We were told of the ways to "Go Green' and develop eco-conscious habits to last a lifetime. We also made coloured badges. We participated in the Art Marathon themed  "Colours of the Earth"  where we sat in the corridors and made a  picture and coloured it too.

My schedule of events did not end with the school hours.  As soon as I came back home from school, I rushed to participate in the Earth Day Walkathon organised by BEEAH at Al Qasba Sharjah.  

I took pledge to save mother Earth by following the 3 R's namely Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  We were demonstrated how to recycle plastic bottles in the reverse  vending machines installed at the venue.  By recycling the bottles we could collect points too which could be subsequently redeemed against gift vouchers, coupons etc.  (which happens to be the 4th R i.e. Redeem).  

Spent some time clicking my photo with funny props, played bouncing castle, enjoyed the outddoor breeze and returned home  very tired after a satisfying and enjoyable day - Venkatesan Sundar
