Take Action with the Green Team Indonesia!

I have a story. My name is Patricia, I'm twelve years old. Like any other people on Earth, I have a dream. My dream is to become a green ambassador.  I never stopped trying to reach it. A few months ago, I finally achieved that dream! I have been appointed as the Green Ambassador of Surfer Girl brand. Since then on, my world changed. I was looking at the environment in a different angle. I realized that the world really do need our help!

Being a green ambassador is not only about not throwing rubbish on the streets and things like that, but it is also about caring for the world. There are some duties that I have to do like writing articles for Surfer Girl's blog and Facebook but my favorite is when they invite me to join their activities. Most of the times are beach clean up, but sometimes it's other things like visiting orphanage, planting mangroves and more.

When we go for beach clean up, we get to search the beach for trash. It's fun! Sometimes it makes me feel like a detective searching for clues in a murder mystery because the trash are dug deep inside the sand and its killing our Earth.  Don't underestimate a beautiful and clean beach! Under its beautiful and white sand are garbage! I found broken pieces of glass and some plastics. Can u imagine if people step on those glass?! That would be awful. It would be like stepping on Lego!! This is a proof that there are still many people out there who do not have a sense of responsibility to the Earth and to other people.

Other than that, I went to plant mangrove once. It was the muddiest feeling ever! Even muddier than the time when I went planting paddies. Even though I looked like I just swam in a mud puddle, it was all worth it because I get to help the Earth. Without mangroves, there would be flood. And when there's flood, lives are being taken away.

That's not all I do, I also visit orphanages. It breaks me to know that there are kids in this world without parents. So I do my best to help them like by donating and playing with them.

Becoming Surfer Girl's Green Ambassador has made me a way better person now. I now have a team called The Green Team Indonesia. Simple name? I know, but we couldn't think of any other names. I founded that team not so long ago, around February. I think it was February 16. In the Green Team Indonesia, we do more action. We teach kids that we call "anak buruh suwun" (Indonesian language) in public markets. They are the kids that work by carrying our things after we've done shopping. Yes, they help us by carrying our stuffs and put them inside a basket then they will carry the basket on top of their heads. These kids are my age, and they still don't know how to read or write. We also visit kids with cancer from poor family. We do story telling and also teach them simple crafts so that they will be happy and forget about their illness.

The Green Team Indonesia also have a blog (http://green-t34m.blogspot.com) where we put all of our ideas on how to help our environment and also some other things to spread the word of kindness to other people in need. It is more than  awesome to be a part of all of this and here's where my story ends.

Thank you for reading!
