National rice planting day in Nepal |
---|
National rice planting day in Nepal is marked as a symbolic day for the celebration of the joy of rice planting. Rice is the staple food in Nepal and it is regarded as an important crop by the farmers. Rice, carrying a big significance in the Nepalese community, is often planted during monsoon season around June-July. The national rice planting day is celebrated in every 15th of Asar according to Nepalese calendar which coincides with 29th June. In this very day, people sing folk songs, dance and eat dahi-chiura ( curd and Beaten rice). Like all the other years, the national rice day is going to be celebrated in Nepal. I along with my network, YOUTH ECO NETWORK are also planning to celebrate the national rice day with the farmers. I will update the events after 29th June. For now, wish us luck!

Rice planting requires hands of farmer at least 88 times till its harvest. Whenever we eat rice, we have to appreciate the farmers who put endless effort to grow rice...
