This is How Youth Eco Network Celebrated International Youth Day.

It was some days before when I was travelling from Kathmandu to Chitwan, I heard some people saying like this, ?Most of the youth have already migrated to other nations. It will be beneficial to our country if we move the old people and the children to Karnali Region and rare OSTRICH in the remaining area.? This sentence a kind of penetrated deep in my mind. That day I really understood the alarmingly sad side of Nepalese social sector, a bitter truth of Nepalese human resource. There are many such things that motivated me as well as some of my friends (we all from Youth Eco Network ,IAAS, Chitwan of which I am the President) to celebrate International Youth Day in such a way so that it could leave positive impacts in all the participants.

Today (12th August) Youth Eco Network, IAAS, Chitwan celebrated International Youth Day by organizing talk show on What After Graduation? for which IAAS, AFU, DADO, Chitwan, District Development Committee (DDC), CCIC, Nepal Poly Technique Institute (NPI) assisted us a lot.

objective of our program: To motivate the agriculture graduates to initiate/ invest in agribusiness and agro-tourism sector in Nepal.
Target group: Passing out students of B.Sc.Ag and B.V.Sc & A.H. from IAAS, Rampur & NPI, Bharatpur.
Resource persons:
1. Mr. Mitra Raj Dawadi
Former President, Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCIC), Chitwan
President of Seed Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (SEAN)
2. Mr. Ram Hari Devkota
Agro- tourism and Eco-tourism specialist.
3. Mr. Chun Narayan Shrestha, M.Phil
Expert in entrepreneurship development
4. Prof. Shrawan Kumar Shah, Ph.D.
Director, Curriculum Development Center, AFU

What I learnt from the program?

Though the theme of this year for International Youth Day (Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward) seems to be pointing to the fact that migration contributes to the national economy, what I learnt from the program was that if the graduates create their self-employment and develop themselves as entrepreneurs, then it will contribute to both social and economic sector of the nation. They can be an example, a torch-light, a path finder to rest of the people in the society.

In Nepal brain drain and muscle drain is the alarming issue. It seems as if this is the country of old people and the children. Up to sometime before the program, I had the thinking of going abroad for my further studies after my graduation. But then after, I questioned to myself:  Why not to create self- employment? Why not to take the risk? Why not to be innovative? Why not to contribute to the nation by remaining in the nation? Why not to be the agri-entrepreneur after my graduation?

For me as well as other participants the program was the huge success because I found many people motivated from what the resource persons presented. Last but not the least I remember our respected teacher Dr. Hom Bahadur Basnet saying, "Only the one who love their nation with all their heart and have positively thinking mind can be the true citizen a true entrepreneur".
