Aquatic heritage in Goa

by | 13-08-2013 21:01 recommendations 0

I'm on vacation in India. While away from Dubai I'm constantly on lookout for environmental activities that are carried on in India & I would like to share some with Tunza.

Last week I had a chance to visit an aquarium in Goa. It was "Abyss Marine Fish Aquarium" in Verna area of Goa (NH 17 near Verna Electronic City, Margao - Panjim Road via Verna Cortalim) . It was amazing to see various varieties of Fishes duly preserved in large tanks. The variety was incredibly large & fishes were all well-kept. It is India's first non-governmental financed sea water aquarium project. The aquarium contains 55 different types of fishes and accumulates 1,000 litres of water. Attached to the aquarium is a filtration plant which avoids the need to change the sea water.

Some noticeable varieties of fishes are Piranha, Lucky Fish, Arapama, Tiger Shark, Angel Fish, Gar Fish, Albinored Eye cat fish, Yellow Morph, Blue Morph, Ice Blue, Red Oscar, Blue Peacock, Red Parrot etc. Kite fish, lobster, crabs etc also on display.

If you plan to visit Goa, please make it a point to visit "Abyss Marine Fish Aquarium

Some pictures are shared.
