How Tunza Eco-Generation is moulding minds: My personal story

by Anthony Emecheta | 05-09-2016 15:21 recommendations 0

I joined eco-generation exactly four years ago. As of the time I became a part of this movement – fighting for the planet – I had not a single clue to going eco-friendly meant.

It all started one afternoon when I was feeling frustrated about myself and condition (I get in that mood a lot), I picked up my phone and began to rummage Google for any writing contest I can enter (most of the contests I saw sort of screened out Africa). I was in that stage as a writer where winning contests or getting honourable mention seems like a green light that you are making sense (most writers are usually unsure if they are making sense especially the upcoming ones like myself :D). so you can simply summarize all I have said into a one simple sentence, ?I was here to take out the fortune? (I know many of you are).

I stumbled upon the Tunza eco-generation annual essay contest which was open to everyone in my age range then. I was so excited and took the dive. I got an honourable mention and it was the turning point towards my writing and my attitude towards the environment.

Today, I am a proud writer (not in terms of arrogance) because when I look back I know I am better than where I was (and believe me, there is nothing better and sweeter than feeding off your talent). I will keep improving.

What makes me blush even more is that I came for what I could take out here and ended up giving to the environment. I am stuck in this movement and I am never wanting out. I love the feeling I get each time I do something simple for the environment like plant a tree or flower or educate the young minds about the environment. Believe me, it gives me unquantifiable joy but Tunza still don?t mind splashing me with gifts. From the debt of my heart I say a big THANK YOU to all the Tunza family. Keep up the good work and one day you won?t need to work so hard to get an audience.

I hope you had a thing or two to learn from my story.

Gifted are the people who can translate their thoughts into words. So, you can definitely be 'proud' of your writing skills. Congratulations on completing 4 years!!! :)

Wow, so sweet of you to say so. You are one of our favorite writers definitely.
Physical distance doesn't mean anything after all good 4 years.
We are also happy to have you as our proud writer and hope to go on this relationship for loooooooooong period of time. All the best!
