World Environment Day

by Prayash Pathak (Chalise) | 12-06-2017 12:15 recommendations 3

To be honest the celebration of my environment day was quite exhausting. I got involved in all together of two different events, which was led by different organizations. My celebration of this years environment day started early in the morning at 7. Me along with my colleagues from Youth Thinkers Society- Lamjung gathered our self in the park as planned. We had decided to celebrate this year's Environment day in a new way. We came up with an idea of making the public more concerned about our environmental wrongdoings by  conducting a creative photoshoot about the present situation of our environment and spreading it to public through the use of facebook. We took photos by decorating and presenting ourself in such a way that it represented the environmental problems and their solutions. We also uploaded photos holding slogans about some strong environmental quotes. All this was to convey the message  the public in such a way that they would be interested to read it.  The details and the photoshoot can be observed in this site: https://m.facebook.com/YTSLamjung/?__tn__=C
After the end of first programme,  I and my colleagues from Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Lamjung Campus started the second event of my day. We had organized a " Open Poster Competition" on the event of World Environment Day with the theme "Clean Environment For Healthy Life". Me being the secretary of the organization has a major role in completing the programme successfully. The competition started from 10 and was followed by exhibition of the posters from 1 pm. Sixty Six students from different schools and colleges took part in the open competition. Then the posters were kept in exhibition in the auditorium hall of Lamjung Campus so that the public could be made aware about the environment. The flow of the public in the poster exhibition was very overwhelming. The posters proved to be very effective in presenting the current environmental problems and how they are affecting the human life. Before starting of the program tree plantation was also done by us in the campus periphery and me and my mates have pledged to take full care of those trees.Later on at the end of the programme awards were distributed to the winners by the Mayor of Sundarbazar Municipality who attended the programme as chief guest. The details of the programme can be seen in the following link: https://m.facebook.com/Nepal-Youth-Red-Cross-Circle-IAAS-Lamjung-413210689034677/?__tn__=C
So to sum up I had quite a busy day. And I was happy that I was able to give at least a day for my mother nature. But was it enough?? We had done quite a lot of activities on June 5 and almost all of them were effective. But the question is "Are we still continuing them??". The answer is a straight "No ?and this is the main reason we are not being able to gain any positive response from our act of June 5. To be honest I myself  who participated in two different events on June 5 ,am sitting idle after that day. If we had the perception  of continuing atleast one of our activities then only we can do something for our mother Earth. So speaking on this issue it may not be possible for me to give continuity to all of my activities on June 5 but I have made a resolution of doing the following three things:
1) Completely boycott the use of plastics and always carry a paper or cloth bag with me.
2) Plant a tree every day on my birthday and to take full care and responsibility of it.
3) Give my best to utilize my time to make people aware about our environmental problems and their solutions.
So at last I hope that all of us will not limit our environment friendly activities only on June 5 and do our best to continue them throughout the year and ensure a more green, clean and better June 5 every next year.
