Did you know in 2014, the world has invested $391 billion in low carbon & climate-resilient infrastructure and it has been estimated that by 2050 the world needs to spend $359 trillion to avoid catastrophic climate change.
So is climate change actually a huge issue for which billions of dollars is being spent while a quarter of the world population in the world are still deprived of the basic needs. For most people, slight increase in the temperature, slight shift in the climate and few mm of increase in the sea level might seem normal or not as catastrophic as to draw billions of dollars for its cause. But scientists believe that this might be the beginning of the extinction of all the races including humans. So, by thinking about these catastrophic effects of climate change in the near future, climate change now has become a burning issue.
You might be shocked to hear that Nepal is the world 13th most vulnerable country to bear the effects of climate change. Huh!! Why?? How?? In the world Nepal only contributes 0.001% in the emission of Carbon Dioxide. Even though our contribution in carbon emission is too low but we have been bearing very high consequences. As most developed countries have started mitigating the effects of climate change but for a poor country like Nepal it is simply impossible to mitigate it as Nepal itself is facing huge resource crisis due to its poor economy. Is mitigating climate change that much expensive? Just imagine how much it costs to replace all our fuel driven vehicles with electric/solar ones, all our LPG gas with electric ones, Can the country economy withstand such a catastrophic change??
Nepal is rich for its lustrous forest. About 44.74% of Nepal is covered with forests. On behalf of the reduction in the Carbon Sequestration by our Forest, ICIMOD has rewarded the community forest of Dolakha & Gorkha district with a sum of $95000. ?The Wolf of Wall Street? star also announced that his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation will donate $15 million to various environmental causes to empower activists calling destruction to environment too serious to be ignored.
As Albert Einstein had told ?Look deep in the nature, then you will understand everything better ?hence it is now our responsibility as youths not only to be aware but also to empower & encourage others to follow their passion. As youth, I believe in being the trendsetter. Since many conflicts are triggered, exacerbated or prolonged by competition over scarce resources climate change will only worsen the situation. That?s why protecting our earth has been more critical for maintaining peace and prosperity in the world.
But the question still arises whom should we blame??

A powerful article Suraj. The answer to the question whom to blame is that, now the blaming part needs to be left behind. Nomatter who has more role in destroying the ozone, the consequences now will be faced equally by all of us. So developing a common propaganda to defeat climate issue is needed.

Hello @Suraj its great your are posting wonderful articles here, umm it is challenging but we need to go on mitigation process rather than blaming, i really loved the way how you include Albert Einstein sayings here ' look deep in the nature ' yeah those who understands nature like you carea nature most so its our responsiblity we need to people realize the depth of nature.
Thank you for the wonderful article :)

Thanks Suraj for this thought provoking report. According to me, more than asking ourselves, 'who should be blamed?' we need to ask, 'how can we resolve this issue?'... as blame game will not help find a solution. Having said that, I must add that the culprits must be forewarned about the actions that are leading to climate change. As you so rightly pointed out with the example of Nepal, nature does not recognise the boundaries that we humans have drawn on land and climate change will not be distributed across the globe based on individual national carbon emmissions. The world must join hands to mitigate climate change, develop resilience against its effects, and initiate climate action.
