Today, I want to talk about this story connecting woman and trees, both source of life.

This is a story of a village in western state in India known as Rajasthan. In Rajsamand district of Rajasthan there is a village called piplantri village. In this village whenever a girl is born 111 trees are planted and the community ensures that these trees survive attaining fruitation as the girls grow up, this is followed as a culture there. This all started by the formal sarpanch of the village in memory of his daughter who died a few years ago.

Around 60 girls are born in an average every year. In this village of 8000 people, people also plant a 11 trees when someone dies in this village. But this village of 8,000 did not just stop at planting trees and greening their commons.

To prevent these trees from being infested with termite, the residents planted over two and a half million Aloevera plants around them. Now these trees, especially the Aloevera, are a source of livelihood for several residents.

It's a message for a better world in two perspectives woman and trees, both are the source of life. Art by me.
