Bagmati is important river of Kathmandu valley. It flows between Kathmandu and Lalitpur district. It originates from Bagdwr, mix with Bishnumati and Teku and leaves the Valley via Chovar. It has religious importance too. Total length of Bagmati is 587km. Although the river has a past glory is facing a severe environment crisis due to massive pollution in recent years. The river is now converted to dumping site of sewages from home, hotels and industries. These days the river doesn¡¯t flow, do not have aquatic fauna and is a breeding site for mosquito and another Parasites. The cleaning campaigns which has been running infinitely are limited success due to their superficial work and short-term planning. Although is had reduced the pollution, but the main problem lies from the source. The proper management is to abolish the source of these pollution which are home, hotels and industries. The fate of bagmati river is now on hand of youths.
