by Aayush Bhattarai | 05-02-2019 02:44 recommendations 0

Wetland is a crucial factor for maintaining the ecosystem, water conservation and purification. But the wetlands have been drying out due to various factors like climate change, unplanned urbanization and many other anthropogenic and natural factors.

Seeing the need of its conservation we student of Institute of Forestry (IOF) conducted a program on 2nd Feb (World Wetland Day) related to wetland conservation.

Firstly we organized a orientation program informing the people about the wetland and the need for its conservation then we conducted a water hole cleaning program. The water hole cleaning program and the orientation program had been a success. The water hole was mainly a drinking water source for spotted deer and other small creatures like birds that are present in the IOF premises.

This activity not only purified the environment but also provided awareness program for about 60 youths to conserve environment. Most of them have even promised for applying efforts from individual level to conserve the environment and to take part in further activities related to environment in coming days.

Completion of the program much thank to all the participant present there. Cleaning program continued. Cleaning of the waterhole. Participants attending the orientation program Me giving information about the wetland and effects of climate change on it.
