Chicago- The creation process of green, environmental-friendly city

Global warming is becoming worse and as of now, global warming is driving our civilization to the end. Also in lots of places, including the Himalayas and the Arctic region, the average temperature is increasing. The specific example out of these places is Chicago in the U.S. The average temperature of Chicago is estimated to rise to 32 degrees Celsius by the end of the century, but the Chicago City Government is devising many preparations

First, it is updating infrastructure. Public alleyways are being repaved with materials permeable with water. Also, bike lanes and parking lots are being covered with permeable pavement that allows 80 percent of the rain to filter through the ground. This is because paved grounds trap water, which develops into floods. Lots of flood problems have been caused by non-permeable alleys and streets, including parking lots.

Second, the City Government is reconsidering its trees. The species of trees that have been planted are also changing. The City Government is changing the original trees planted in Chicago city to Norway maples, white oaks and bald cypress, etc. This is because these kinds of trees provide more shade and oxygen. More than anything else, they could help hinder global warming, as well as help citizens overcome heat wave.

This year, on the Korean Peninsula, a lot of rain has been pouring down, which claimed the lives of so many people and brought about unexpected physical and psychological disasters. Yesterday, I read about the article that the air quality of Seoul ranked lowest in the world, posting over the 900th position. Also the concentration of dust particles in Seoul is very high compared to major cities in the world. Considering these kinds of situations, I think that the case of Chicago is the answer sheet that S. Korea needs to follow. Plus, the continuous endeavors that the Chicago City Government has made to update infrastructure aimed at hindering global warming and reducing floods.
