(Monthly Event) What Can I Do To Help Reduce Air Pollution

by Dharmendra Kapri | 30-06-2019 21:33 recommendations 1

Air pollution is one of the main environmental issues nowadays. There are many reasons behind regularly increasing this air pollution. Most of the air pollution is caused by the automobiles, transport means, industrialization, growing cities, etc. The release of several harmful gases or dangerous elements from such sources is causing the whole atmospheric air pollution. Ozone layer is also getting affected too much by the air pollution which causes serious disturbances to the environment. Increasing need of the ever growing human population is main cause of pollution. Daily human being activities causing dangerous chemicals to release, making atmosphere dirtier than ever and forcing the climate change negatively.

Industrialization process releases many harmful gases, particles, paint and batteries contains lead, cigarettes releases carbon monoxide, transport means releases CO2 and other toxic substances to the atmosphere. All the pollutants are being in contact with the atmosphere, destroying the ozone layer and calling harmful rays of sun to the earth. In order to reduce the level of air pollution we should bring some huge changes to our habits on daily basis. We should not cut trees, use public transportation, avoid spray cans, and so many activities in the favor to reduce the effects of air pollution.

To do my bit to help reduce Air Pollution I organized Environmental Awareness Programs with the help of Plant-for-the-Planet and Tunza Eco-Generation goods. All five programs were organized on the month of June to celebrate World Environment Day. Altogether 425 children from 41 different schools attended the programs in Islamnagar, Santana, Bandiya, Sadhu Nagar and Khatima, India.

Purposes of the Program-

¡¤      * To educate the children about the environmental and justice issues and inspire them to take action.

¡¤      * To give young Climate Justice Ambassadors the skills they need to empower their own friends and family about the vision to plant trees and achieve climate justice.

¡¤     * To empower the children so that they too can tackle global challenges as part of a global movement.

¡¤     * As Climate Justice Ambassador they give presentations and empower other children to become Climate Justice Ambassador as well.

After the Presentation, World Game, Public Speaking Training, Session on Tunza Eco-Generation, World Café, School Groups Activity and Evening Presentation, all participants received their certificates, which recognized them as a Climate Justice Ambassador and at the end of the program all participants took pledge to start an Eco-clubs in their respective schools.

Here are some other actions I do on my day-to-day life to help reduce air pollution-

¡¤      * I organize Environmental Awareness Program and Leadership Programs in Schools to educate children about climate change and other environmental issues and I have successfully organized 124 such programs in last six years.

¡¤     * At the end of the program we plant at least 15 trees per program as a Planting Party activity.

¡¤     * I am using e-paper and e-magazines from last 6 years.

¡¤     * I plant trees on my birthday and other memorable occasions.

¡¤     * I try to take Public Transport or Walk, whenever and wherever possible.

¡¤     * I always turn off the lights, computers and electric appliances when not in use.

¡¤     * I am using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances in my home since a very long time.

¡¤     * I prefer and use organic and locally produced goods and food.

I truly believe that our small and collective actions can make a big difference. Always remember One mosquito cannot do anything against the rhino but a thousand of mosquitoes can make rhino change his direction.
