Large Indian Civet says' hello' to all the members present here!!

My short Introduction!

I am native to South and Southeast Asia. The color of my body are gray and brown and I am medium in size. I am from small mammals group. I inhabits scrub, grasslands, and dense forest areas in South and Southeast Asia (India, Nepal, Bhutan, southern China and Bangladesh). I am highly nocturnal. I am mostly terrestrial and sometimes shows the arboreal behavior by climbing tree. I live in a small den. I mark territory with my glandular secretions, in order to communicate its presence and identify territory and my secretion are too smelly (Oh! Sorry). I am mostly carnivorous, preying on birds, frogs, snakes, chickens and hens. Sometimes, I also eat fruit, eggs, roots, fish and crabs. Habitat degradation and forest fire are major threats for me. Though I am amazing species but I am in high threats nowadays because of hunting, mainly for food but also for scent glands (Pity me). According to IUCN (International Union for Nature Conservation), I am considered as a common and widespread species but our population status is still unknown. Currently we are classified as Least Concern (LC) though our numbers today are decreasing.

Lastly, they (Large Indian Civet) says," We need your help to survive in our own way".

Happy reading!!
