Ways Your Company Can Be More Environment Friendly

by Kevin Devoto | 06-09-2019 02:25 recommendations 0

Going green is a popular term. Many Earth-conscious people will make a concerted effort to make their offices green friendly. Here, we'll cover some simple ways to make your company as green as possible.

Create a buzz around your green goals:

Include your employees in the fun. Create green goals and incentives for your company. Celebrate your success. Measure the impact your green company has had on the planet. Participate in speaking engagements regarding your program. Volunteer at organizations as a company and raise brand awareness. Help to educate the community on local green issues.

Change your vendors to green companies:

Show the world that your products are also green, not just the office. Doing business with green vendors makes a statement and a positive footprint on the planet. Interview the vending companies before you sign on with them. The products they make should be green as well as their delivery methods and factories. For your office supplies, ask your printer company if they use recycled materials.

Clean up your plastic and energy use:

If your company is using plastic bottles, then you're contributing to a packaged water fad that's gone too far. You can eliminate the plastic bottles and install a water filtration system. Many offices don't take part in going green because they think they're not large enough. The size of the company doesn't matter.

Make your office a digital green empire:

The most incredible thing you can do to create the ultimate green business is to go paperless. That's right, it's extreme, and most people will need an adjustment period, but you can do it. If you're a new company, instituting a paperless office is much easier because you're starting this way.

If you're an established company with long-standing employees, you'll need to ease them in. Some people will have an issue with it because they'll believe that the green movement is a fad. Other employees will embrace it. If you include everyone as we stated in the first point, they'll at least tolerate it. At least you're doing something kind to the planet and people.

Encourage green and healthy employees:

Yes, you can make people green too! How do you do that? You encourage health in the workplace. Instead of having a vending machine full of junk food that will cause an employee energy crash, serve healthy snacks. The healthy snacks cost no more than the junk. Your employees will have more energy and will work more creatively. You'll have more revenue going into the company.

Be a host of your own green event:

Why not go one step further and have your company host a green cause? Events look great to the public and raise money for the planet. You can get out with your employees and meet your community. Green communities make great customers too. People that take part in activism will buy products from green companies that get out and do something meaningful.

Clean your office with green products.

Green products can be used to clean your office. If you aren't using them because they are too pricey, think again. Green cleaners are more concentrated than the toxic ones. Not only are you saving the planet, but you're protecting your health and that of your employees.

Add another element to your green lighting.

Add motion detection lighting that will serve you in two ways. First, it will relax the eyes of your employees because there will be a lot less bright light. The lights will not be activated until a person walks into the room. This lighting saves on your power bill and makes a positive footprint when used in tandem with LED light bulbs.

Change your sponges and paper towels:

Change out the paper towels and sponges. Microfiber towels are miles better than paper products, and all you have to do is wash them once a week. Buy plant-based sponge products. These two small changes can mean a lot.

Invest in some permanent tools as well as some Earth-friendly disposables:

We're making the bold suggestion that your company invests in real cutlery. When you celebrate employee birthdays, use recyclable paper plates. Green options are numerous. Take advantage of anything you can to make a greener break room. How do you brew coffee all day? Most offices keep a full pot most of the day. You can invest in recycled coffee filters. Also, remember to purchase free-trade coffee.

If you can't change the lighting:

There are still things you can do. Open the shades and let in as much natural sunlight as you can during the day. This one small action will have a positive impact on the mental health of your employees. Sunlight is an endorphin booster, at work or anywhere you can catch some rays. You're also making a positive impact on the planet by using less energy. So, if you can't change the light bulbs, use them only when necessary.

Make recycling easy:

Put recycling bins inside the office that have clear labels. This action will encourage recycling and create positive habits among employees. When things are made easy, and visible, the natural thing to do is follow those who are taking part.

Going green as a company will touch many lives. Today, businesses have an impact on the world. It's a responsibility for business to leave a positive footprint on the planet. Business owners can take the opportunity to be a positive example to others. The more people that participate and talk about the green experience, the more companies will follow.
