How many of us use facewash? I guess alot, right? In the market these days, we can get a lot of cosmetic products. One of these is face wash which contains exfoliating plastic microbeads. What are microbeads? Microbeads are pieces of plastic, usually spherical in shape which is used in body wash , facewash, toothpaste, sunscreen and other products. What is the role of microbeads? They're used in various cosmetic products because these small particles help to rub and remove debris from our skin and help to cleanse the pores. Why are these harmful? The plastic beads are so small, they don't dissolve and are not filtered during sewage treatment. As a result, they attract several pollutants and are swallowed by fish and other marine animals . Moreover, they can also harm human health. There are campaigns going on in many parts of the world to ban the use of plastic microbeads.There are certain alternative to plastic microbeads. We can use facewash that has natural substance which can act as a great exfoliant like oatmeal,jojoba beads , lemon ,sugar etc which cause less harm to our skin and the environment as well. |
