The Best Ways to Encourage Your Government Members to Help the Environment

by Walter Bodell | 25-01-2020 11:45 recommendations 0

The average person can help the environment by doing things like recycling and carpooling. When many people do these little things, it can add up. However, big businesses contribute much more damage to the environment than the average person. The government can help to regulate the emissions that these businesses put out. However, sometimes even the government needs a little push. Below are some of the best ways to encourage your state senator or congressperson to help the environment.

Check on International Policy

Many politicians are busy with a variety of tasks each day. Because of this, they cannot always keep up to date on every new policy. The Climate Leadership Council is a policy held in place by several countries around the world, including the United States. This policy aims to encourage countries to have a lesser carbon footprint by rewarding countries with a low carbon emission and having fees for countries that have large carbon emissions. alerting government members to councils like this one may be able to help.

Volunteer for Environmental Agencies

One way to help the government yourself is to volunteer with government agencies that already work to help the environment. With these groups, you don't just help but you can also learn lifelong skills. One of the best ways to volunteer with the government is to work at a national park. These parks are natural nature reserves that need to be kept clean and safe for Americans and tourists to enjoy. By helping to keep them clean, you can do your part.

If you don't want to volunteer at a national park, consider joining the Earth Team Volunteers. This group not only works on public land but also on private land. Volunteers help to improve animal habitats, clean up garbage, and purify water. These groups can help all over the country, so volunteers are sure to be able to find a way to help near their home, even if they don't live near a national park.

Join a Climate Change Rally

Having a winter with less snow or having more warm and sunny summer days can be enjoyable for us sometimes but it's not great for the environment as a whole. Climate change affects the weather in a variety of different ways and it has been for decades. Climate change is hurting the planet and many people are angry about this and want to see change! One great way to encourage politicians to pay more attention to the environment is by taking part in a climate change rally.

At these events, people often make signs to protest, but that is not necessary to participate. All you need to do to join a climate change rally is simply show up and give your support!

Vote for Environmentalists

Everyone has the opportunity to make a difference in the government. Even if you are not a politician, you can still make a difference simply by voting for those who you believe will be able to make effective change. Some people think that one vote won't make much of a difference, and it's arguable that something like that could be true. However, when many people come together to vote, it does make a difference.

If you are passionate about the environment, then it is in your best interest to do research on the people who you want to vote for. You can do this both on local levels and on the federal level. Do your research to find a politician that aligns themselves with your views. By doing this, you can vote for someone who promises to help the environment.

These are all small things that any adult can do to make a difference and to help the environment. Encourage your government to work for you and for the planet!
