Hello everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe at home.I hope you guys are utilizing your lockdown period properly and staying safe at home.

Today I am going to share you about how we can prepare compost from our kitchen biodegradable wastes and garden scraps at our home incase we have less space to make compost by digging a pit .

Most of us have earthen(terracotta)pot at home.So we need a terracotta pot of appropriate size. The size of pot can be used according to our requirement.
Before filling the pot with compost material we need to check the drainage hole if it is too small then the size of the hole should be increased . After that some pebbles are kept at the drainage hole to prevent excess leakage.
After that fill the bottom of the pot with previously prepared compost or soil. The microorganism present in soil or compost help to decompose kitchen waste faster. After that a layer of dried leaves should be filled in the pot.The layer of dried leaves should be 2-3cm .After that the pot should be filled with a layer of kitchen waste, lawn grass.

The pot should be filled completely with alternate layer of dried leaves and kitchen waste. After completely filling the pot it should be covered with  previously prepared compost or a mixture of cow dung and soil(cow dung shouldn't be fresh).
After that we can cover it with a terracotta cover or plate if not we can cover it with other things also that is available with us.

Then we can put  a flower pot over it so that everytime we provide water to flower some amount of water goes to the compost.
The compost will be prepared in 1 month in summer and in winter it take 45-50 days.

Thus it's a simple way to make compost for our kitchen garden and utilizing kitchen waste.
