International Biodiversity Day 2020

Hello everyone ,
I hope all you are doing great and staying safe.

Today,22nd May, is celebrated as International Day for Biological Diversity 2020 to engaged more number of people for the biodiversity issues and aware them about its value and taking positive action.with the theme of our solutions are in nature.

Biodiversity is the short form of  "biological" and "diversity". It refers to all the variety of life that can be found on Earth (plants, animals, fungi,micro-organisms) as well as to the communities that they form and the habitats in which they live. It is the variety of different types of life found on the Earth. Our planet is now in the middle of the sixth mass extinction of species, the worst since the loss of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.  Earth¡¯s Environment and Climate is undergoing drastic changes recently all driven by unsustainable development activities and natural resources are getting depleted. Scientists estimate we¡¯re now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the background rate, with as many as 30 to 50 percent of all species possibly heading toward extinction by mid century. Sadly 99 percent of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities.Habitat loss and degradation, Climate change and forest fragmentation all driven by human developmental activities are the primary causes of decline.

Year 2020 is the year of opportunity and solutions. Environmental protection, conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity will be successful only through the involvement of local communities.  Individuals also need to be aware of the types of actions they themselves can take in order to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity. Although individual action may seem small in the face of global threats when billions of children jointly raise their voice for Biodiversity conservation, we can make a tremendous difference.

Mass media such as newspapers, radio, television, Facebook, instagram etc plays an important role to create awareness regarding environmental issues.  Environmental awareness emphasise the importance of sustainable development i.e., economic development without degrading the environment. We as tomorrow¡¯s leaders should be motivated to take active participation in environmental protection and improvement.
Thus, for the same purpose I have made small video during these lockdown days and post it into different social media platform like Facebook. so that I could aware and encourage local  people  and my friends from my level to contribute something for the conservation of biodiversity and be a responsible creature of this beautiful earth.
