Hello Everyone
I hope all of you are fine and doing great.
Today I want to share with all of you about the most endangered animal i.e Pangolins.

Pangolins are the mammals falling in order Pholidata.Pangolins are the only mammals wholly covered with scales to protect themselves from predators in wild.If under threat a pangolin will immediately curl into a tight ball and use their sharp scaled scale tails to defend themselves.

Pangolins are nocturnal and their diet consists of mainly ants and termites.Pangolins are found in variety of habitats. They are found in tropical forests, thick bush, clear and cultivated areas and Savannah grassland .In general they are found in the place where large number of Ants and termites are found.

Eight species of Pangolins are found in present situation in two continents .Four species live in Africa and and Four species live in Asia. The four species that is found in Africa are Black-bellied Pangolin,White bellied Pangolin , Giant Ground Pangolin and Tenmicks ground Pangolin. The other four species found in Asia are Indian Pangolin, Phillipines Pangolin , Dunda Pangolin and Chinise Pangolin.

All 8 species are protected under National and International laws and two are listed as Critically Endangered on IUCN Red list of threatened species.

The main reason behind Pangolins being endangered is overexploitation due to poaching for luxury meat consumption and their scales are utilized for traditional medicine in International markets.

There are some of Action plan taken for conservation of Pangolins to increase Pangolins population and secure their habitat against emerging threats. The action plan includes reducing poaching and control illegal trade of Pangolins , identifying and managing the habitat for Pangolins conservation, enhancing capacity of local and national levels law enforcement to control wildlife crime.

In the present context human activities have become a biggest threat to wildlife and their survival.
