Giloy: A medicinal plant

Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) is commonly called heart leaved moonseed, guduchi. It is a herbaceous vine of the family Menispermaceae. It can be grown in all type of soil ,however light sandy loam soil is suitable .Plants grow well in tropical and subtropical condition. It has climbing habit which cannot be grown in water logged condition.It is uni sexual plant. It is mainly . It is mainly be propagated by cutting (Stem cutting) while seed propagation is done for research purpose.

 

 

Medicinal Importances of Giloy

 

1. Boost Immunity

It help to boost immunity as it is powerhouse of antioxidant  which fight against free radicals, keep our cell healthy and helps to get rid from Disease.

 

2.Treats Chronic Fever 

Giloy is anti-pyretic substance in nature ,it can reduce signs and symptoms of several life threatening condition like Dengue,swine flu and Malaria.

 

3.Improve Digestion 

Half gram of Giloy powder with some amla regularly to maximize results , or with jaggery for treating constipation.

 

3. Treats Diabetes

It act as hypoglycaemia agent helps to treat diabetes.

 

4. Fights Respiratory Problems

It has anti -inflammatory benefits thus,helps to reduce respiratory problems like cough, cold, tonsils.

 

5. Reduce Anxiety and stress

It helps to get rid of toxins, boosts the memory ,calms us down and makes for an excellent health tonic if combined with other herbs.

 

6. Improve Vision

 It is applied in eyelids by boiling it in water ,cooling as it helps to boost vision clarity.

 

7. Reduces sign of ageing

It has anti-ageing property which helps to reduce dark spots,pimples,fine liners and wrinkles .

One of the disadvantages of Giloy is that it reduce pressure so, people having low pressure are not recommended to consume more.
