6 Healthy Foods That Don't Sacrifice Taste

Eating healthy food is important. Not only is it necessary for keeping you in shape, but eating healthily is also key to making sure your body functions properly and does not leave you with any health issues. The problem many people encounter, though, is that the foods that are best for people do not always satisfy those specific food cravings you may have. Sometimes the most delicious food is also the unhealthiest food, which is sad when you have to give up the food you love. However, there are many foods that are both delicious and nutritious. Here are six foods that you can add to your diet and will still satisfy you.

1. Fruits and Berries

Not only is fruit good for you, but it is also sweet, delicious, and easy to add to your diet. Apples and oranges are both high in fiber and vitamin C and make for great light snacks to have any time, making them a good source of nutrition and easy foods to work into your day. Berries, including blueberries, are loaded with antioxidants and also make for easy snacks as well as being versatile. They can be used for supplements to add to other food, such as red superfood powder to add into smoothies for an energizing treat. Adding fruit and berries to your everyday diet will charge you up and please your taste buds at the same time.

2. Dark Chocolate]=

Yes, you read that right. Chocolate may sound like the ultimate decadent junk food, but if you opt for dark chocolate over milk chocolate, you will find it has flavonoids that can protect you against cell damage. Dark chocolate has considerably less sugar than milk chocolate and therefore a richer, satisfying taste that doesn¡¯t give you a sugar crash. Take it in small doses, of course, but the next time you reach for a chocolate bar to treat yourself, replace it with dark chocolate for the added benefits.

3. Meat

Unprocessed meat is loaded with protein and vitamins. Of course, choosing the right kinds of meat is key, as a fast-food hamburger, while delicious, is not the best for you. However, lean red meat with the fat trimmed off is a great source of both protein and iron. Unprocessed chicken with no breading is also excellent for protein. While you should generally avoid fatty cuts of meat, if you are on a low-carb or keto diet, you can make an exception, as fat is beneficial to those diets.

4. Nuts

If you do not eat meat and want another source of protein, or you are just looking for an alternative healthy snack as opposed to junk food like potato chips, nuts are packed with protein and are also delicious. They are quite fatty and caloric, so a little goes a long way, but a handful of almonds, walnuts, or cashews makes for a filling and nutritious snack that will both satisfy you and give you an energy boost to take on your day.

5. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet, loaded with vitamins, and especially good for you. While offering a considerably different taste from potatoes, they are also the healthier choice, as they are packed with vitamins and antioxidants. A good choice if you are in the mood for something sweet.

6. Eggs

Another excellent source of protein, eggs are a great way to start your day. They are a good source of vitamins B and D. The best part about eggs is their versatility. You can prepare them in countless ways and you can add all sorts of ingredients to them to ensure they never get boring. No matter how you eat them, they are sure to give you a good boost.

These are just a few examples of healthy and delicious food to start you on the right track. Adding these to your diet will ensure you eat smart and will love doing so.
