Learning How To Develop the Adventure of Your Dreams

Have you ever been decompressing at work or relaxing at home and gone onto your social media, only to see how all of your friends seem to be living out the adventures of their dreams and sending out snapshots and videos of it? Does it make you just a little bit jealous? If you answered yes, you might be overdue for your own adventure.

Another way to think about the concept of adventure is to consider how it will yield new and unique experiences, singular to a very particular episode of your life. When you let life take you on an adventure, it can facilitate a sense of well-being as well as help you to gain new skills and knowledge, which will make you more well-rounded. In short, adventure helps you to become a wider person.

What Are Your Desires?

If your desire is to begin your adventure at the Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner, you can plan and achieve it. Figuring out what you want is the first step to obtaining it. You simply have to name the activity that you want to learn and then go out and learn it.

If your idea of an adventure is to play disc golf in every state, you have already begun to develop a picture of what this looks like. If you want to learn ballroom dancing, ride a bull or ride in a hot air balloon, you simply have to allow yourself to name the desire. Only then can you begin to pursue it.

What Are the Logistics?

Once you've figured out what you want, the next step is to figure out how to make it happen. This is where a logistical analysis will be beneficial. Your adventure might call you to distant parts of the globe or just down the street. It might require learning a lot about a subject or community or spending hours and hours developing logistical schemes regarding how to get somewhere or pay for something.

Logistics can also help you to consider your adventure in a more dimensional way. For instance, you might have considered the idea of swimming with sharks, but now you've got to reconcile that with the fact that you've never scuba-dived before and that the only time you've ever heard the expression diver down was through David Lee Roth.

These revelations will open up the door not only to the things that you have to accomplish to get where you want to be but also to other things that you might want to do along the way. Besides swimming with sharks, you may decide you want to visit a shipwreck or cave or dive to a certain depth.

How Do You Let Go of Your Fear?

Some adventures make your heart beat faster and your adrenaline flow. When the thought of your adventure scares you, remember that it is possible to overcome your fear.

If skydiving is on your bucket list, consider this: all you have to do is walk out of an open door to make it happen. Could it be more simple? Of course, this belies the psychological nature of this activity, which can take you from intrigued to excited to terrified in short order. It's these feelings that will cause you to freeze and ultimately, to change your mind.

The secret to letting go of your fear is recognizing it and putting it in its place. Once you recognize it and how it affects you, you can develop a plan by which to deal with it. For instance, if you know that your body will likely be frozen if you throw yourself from an airplane, you can inquire about a tandem jump or static jump, where you literally just have to fall and breathe.

If you're feeling as though you need some adventure in your life, you simply have to make the decision to embark on it. Once you make the decision, the details can all be filled in over time. With critical thought and planning, you can figure out your financing, timetable and the other logistical details that will ensure your success.
