Recycle : The Possibilities Are Endless- * 350000 aluminium cans are produced every minute. * If all our newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year. * The first real recycling program was introduced in New York City in the 1890s. The city's first recycling plant was built in 1898. * More Than 20,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of tinfoil. All that foil is recyclable, but not many people realize it. * Over 300 million in cartridges are thrown into landfills every month. * The plastic in the typical ink cartridge takes about 1,000 years to decompose. * Recycling a stack of newspaper just 3 feet high can save one tree. * Glass can be recycled virtually forever, it never wears out.

thank you Dharmendra for posting the article. i want add oone more information regarding recycling of plastics. About 6kg of CO2 is produced to make a kg of plastic. But if recycling of plastic will produce 3.f kf of CO2. thus, for every kg of plastic recycled, we lower 2.5 Kg of CO2 emission. so lets promote the 3R concept.

Nice consolidated report Dharmendra...but I would consider recycling as the last option as reuse may the most preferred option ...

Thanks for sharing amazing facts , Dharmendra. I was equally amazed recently to read that recycling one aluminium can saves enough energy to run a 100 watt light bulb for 20 hours. We must reduce , reuse and recycle as much as possible to save energy.

Recycling is one of the best ways to manage the waste and it should be taken as a resource not as a problem and this is what I have been sharing in my awareness programs to the students.
