Jungle of Concretes

by | 07-02-2016 14:04 recommendations 0

I was surprised while I randomly took a turn into the depths of a narrow street in my city. I had expected to find a calmer place a few metres down the street. But, the scene hurt  like sands in the eyes. There was nothing but the metal roads and concrete houses. Some of the big plants and small trees which had grown out on the sides of the street were being choked by stone-chips that were heaped on, and around them.

Everybody has used once every bit of soil to erect tall buildings. Instantly I knew what we mean by "a jungle of concretes". a little further I found a single house which was having some plants and tree. Initially, the leaves appeared to be green but when I looked closer I found the Green was not actually Green, it had taken a strong Yellow hue.

Months of pollution mainly spreading itself on the leaves in the form of half-burnt Carbon materials, coming out of vehicle exhausts, were doing irreparable damage.
Let us imagine a world where Green leaves are no Green, they take some other greenish colour. A time may come when children living in cities may never see the true beautiful Green colours of leaves.
The whole world tried desperately to come toa functional understanding for handling the nature. The deliberations at Paris in December 2015 on Climate Change ended on an ambitious note. The onus has again come on under-developed and developing nations rather than on developed nations whose development has come through exploitation of nature.

Let us hope very soon we arrive at a more workable condition and understanding where under-developed and developing nations get real support from developed nations to work for preservation of the natural environment.

Dear Yagya, even I have realized the fact you mentioned that trees/plants in cities are not as green as in village/forest. In this modern world life has been so materialistic and people have lost their attachment with nature. hardly we find open spaces in city filled with concrete tall buildings. I am still hopeful youths of this generation can be pivotal in bringing back the integration with nature.
Thank you for sharing dear Yagya :)

It is very embarrassing to say that all the pollution, and there terrible happenings to our environment is all mostly because of humans. It is indeed very important to realize what we are doing before it is too late. All the little beauty that is fortunately left is gradually decreasing so it will be better to start working on it now.

Thanks for sharing your observation and view-point. Indeed it is true that urbanisation, buildings on almost on every inch of soil has taken away greenery and covered the natural beauty. It's sad. That's why development should always be sustainable. We should have garden among every 10 buildings or so.

No doubt, concrete houses are need of time. But we have to carefully use them. Proper housing societies is what i am talking about having enough green belts should be considered now. :)

I believe by creating awareness and getting the top officials involved, it would help curb the impact. Most people especially in developing countries are still ignorant of happenings in their environment.
