Agenda 21: an international context.

Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organization of the United Nations System, Government and major groups in every area in which human impacts on environment. Agenda 21, adopted by United Nation Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janerio in 1992, outlines strategies to halt reverse the effect of environmental degradation. In the context of increasing national and international efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally sound development all countries agreed this agenda, Agenda 21 the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development aimed in achieving global sustainable development, One major objective of Agenda 21 initiative is that every local government should draw its own local Agenda 21. Since 2015, Sustainable Development Goals are included in Agenda 2030. Agenda 21 recommendations are: Poverty alleviation Demographic dynamics and sustainability (Demographic update) Sustainable use and management of land resources Protection and promotion of human health Promotion of sustainable human settlements Full integration of environmental and developmental issues in government decision making Protection of atmosphere Sustainable biological diversity (activity) Promoting hazardous and solid waste management Women participation in development activities Identification of financial resources and their mobilization mechanism Improving legal mechanism Safe drinking water Provision of social security Protection of ozone layer depletion and global warming Checking labor depletion Overall environmental protection.

Looking at the Agenda 21, I can see that the environment is connected with variety of social areas.

Dealing with environmental issues, out of many aspects, cooperation of many nations is absolutely necessary. And United Nations play important role in leading the countries and setting up the guideline.

Of the many issues, I'm interested in that climate change can lead to poverty across the planet. All the issues in Agenda 21 should be dealt in wise ways.

I really love how you brought up such an important topic!
Nice choice!

As for Agenda 21, I am personally interested in how it laied out special attention to be given for the economies in transition. Environmental, social and other problems of various sectors are always complicated to tackle because they often collide with economic development. Economies that are starting to rise will often confront the dilemma between economic growth and environment protection and this is not an easy choice to make. Although it is important for the entire humanity to pursue these goals, Agenda 21 takes a rather sensitive approach in achieving them to make sure that it doesn't threaten those countries that are just starting to develop.

I think it's always important for us to think about this when thinking of sustainable development and environmental issues.

I wish that everybody take a day or few to think about this problem!
