In line with the theme for the month 'Youths and the Environment', I decided through my organisation Passion for Greens, to approach the theme with an environmental essay writting competition. The competition was aimed at encouraging research about vital issues effecting the environment as well as identifying children that are skilled at writing and are passionate about the environment, to motivate them and channel their influence into impacting social change.
The Competition was held at Mitanto Secondary School, a school located in Kitwe district of the Copperbelt province in Zambia. We targeted grades, eight(8), ten (10) and eleven (11) and the major topics we covered were;
To encourage them, we gave them books, Passion for Greens T Shirts, pens and certificates. Furthermore, we awarded the school management with a certificate of appreciation for supporting the initiative. We have managed to successfully open an environmental club at the school were all the 43 participants are now members and are all eager to participate more in environmental sensitization programs. I want to thank TUNZA Ecogeneration for supporting this program and if there is anything i can ever wish for as an ambassador during my term, is raising a generation of children who will aspire to become environmentalists, natural resource managers and climate activists. And i know that if we as environmentalists gave in everything while holding our efforts close to each other, together we can. Thank you!

Hi David!
You had a very pleasant experience with the organization!
I'm sure that those students participated in the competition had an opportunity to think deeply about the environment. And they will also spread positive effects in the local region.
I hope more and more students join the initiative!
