Small actions Big Results

by Rohan Kapur | 14-05-2019 12:27 recommendations 0

When we talk about sustainability or environment or recycling this is a collective action. It takes a community effort to bring a change. But individual efforts, rather small actions goes a long way in bringing considerable results in the society.

In the summer months, in scorching heat we get reprieve by a cool drink but disposal of that plastic or can is very important. Do not throw in the waste. Look for recyclable bin & dispose. Moreover, if the bin is not nearby, collect the recyclable material in a bag & dispose after 2-3 weeks as per convenience. You will feel empowered, cherished.

While brushing your teeth in the morning do not keep the tap open. Use water to rinse & dispose the froth only. A small leak can empty a huge water tank.

The newspaper that arrives daily to your household must not be thrown in the waste. Dispose in the recycling bin or deposit with local recycling agency. If it is a big load they may collect from your household as well.

While going for the regular grocery shopping or for purchasing fruits & vegetables, please use jute bags or recyclable plastic or paper bags. It is a good idea to carry a bag to the market, rather bringing a lot of plastic bags.

Print cartridges must be recycled. They are a huge threat to the environment.

Study books may be donated / exchanged to / with the junior / senior students in the school. It is very effective considering the cost & environment both.

The other books, leisure etc. may also be exchanged or sold. It is very good practice.

Art from waste is another form of sustainability. There are numerous form of art that can be created by waste paper, card-board, CDs, DVDs etc.

There is a saying, where there is a will there is a way. I have provided a few of practical recycling habits that are inculcated in my routine life since past 15 years. I am very sure that you must be practicing many of these are numerous other sustainable habits that is making our Beloved Mother Greener & happier.

Thanks for reading.

    Hello Rohan

Thank you for sharing useful tips on what we can do to protect the environment in our daily lives. Donating books, recyclong plastics and reducing the use of unrecyclable packages do not require a lot of energy or time. However, the results will be dramatic if all members of the community follow them. Thank you for sharing this with us. Keep up the good work!
