Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my 8th report related to SOIL POLLUTION IN TAIWAN. The 4th meeting of our ecological club (and our ecological marathon) in this new semester was devoted to SOIL POLLUTION IN TAIWAN. It was held on December 5 and was dedicated to World Soil Day. It is a day held to demonstrate and promote environmental awareness and calls for the protection of our planet. The student Mira Lee made a report on this problem. Se told us that Taiwan used to aggressively seek for economic development, but in the meantime ignoring environmental protection. It resulted in ubiquitous incidents of contaminated soil and groundwater. Social and environmental costs were sacrificed for partial economic development, and the government strived to solve the problems of remediation with public funds. General citizens also had to suffer from natural disasters. To deal with this severe condition and to also react to a growing environmental awareness of the public, new initiatives had to be taken. Mira Lee also told us that in 2017 acid rain falls in Hsinchu City on 85 days out of every 100 days of rain (according to the Environmental Protection Agency). And when the weather gets cold, the issue of air pollution heats up. I believe that even through our small actions we can contribute to a big goal, to reduce soil pollution. Reduce, reuse and recycle can help us, our community by improving our health and the health of our soils. Thank you for your attention. Our marathon will be continued¡¦ |

Hello Elizaveta, I do really look forward to your series of regular seminar session with your partners!
Sharing various opinions with friends on certain environmental topics differing each month is really good for all the ones participating in the session.
I did not know that your studying session will be based upon soil pollution in commemoration of world soil day!
Hope all of you had a great time to check how our human beings have come up with severe soil pollution so far
Thanks for your report, and sorry for the late feedback :(

Hello Elizaveta
Nice to share the opinions of your club members through this platform!
We should never neglect our beloved nature in any condition, and it is unfortunate that mankind has actually done these historically under the goal to obtain economic development.
And it really seems that it is the time that we stand up and put things back to its right order.
Thanks for sharing your marathon!

Hi Elizaveta!
I trust you are well! I truely admire how you are following a step by step roll up of articles pertaining to soil and issues relating to it. Knowing how our government failed to bring about a integrated growth of social, economical and environmental spheres, the point now is to reverse the damage and bring forth change that will firstly benefit humanity, and then wildlife. Because If we don't see to it that our environment (in particular our soil) is nourished and healthy to sustain life and give life, then we are not better than the damaged soils caused by erosion and chemical contamination.
Thank you for your report Planeteer!
Yours sincerely
R.
