The second workshop for local community children was held in the first week of August. This time our theme was 'Saving Water'. We showed children the current situation of water problem and its effects on the environment through PPT.
Then, presented possible solution to water problem.
Our approach here was introducing 'insect food' as substitute for conventional food, which leaves huge carbon footprints and water shortage problem while processing and raising.
Diverse insect food was given and tried by children. General reception was 'disgusting', since children were not accustomed to the idea of insect food.
The second workshop gave us a further assignment to come up with ideas to make children get familiar with the concept of insect food.

Haha no wonder why the kids didn't like it. What kinds of insect dishes did you have? I heard there's a restaurant that only specializes in insect food somewhere in new york city! You might want to check it out and tell the kids haha. Thanks for your work!

Amazing. Teaching the youth and paying good attention to their education is so important. Especially, giving them good informations about the environment. Water is kind of a problem in our District. There is only 1 tap with running water for 2 big mahallas and almost every family carries water. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for your kind comment. After a presentation, this small group work works quite well. We can take any questions and get back to them. Also, let them research through laptop, and share the research with their fellow friends is another motivation for children to focus on the subject.

Another urgent issue which needs attention from everyone including these young children. Water is the basic necessity of life but water resources are limited so we must use water judiciously and avoid it's wastage. I am sure these youngsters would have learnt this from your community workshop. Good Job. Thanks for sharing.
