According to the recent assessment of 'Central Electricity Authority' , India has reached a major milestone of renewable energy .
The total capacity of renewable energy produced in the country has reached upto 42,850 megawatts which is mainly from the wind and solar power .
The renewable energy projects ( 42,850 MW) overtook the hydropower capacity of the country which is around 42,783 megawatts. This made the country to emerge as one of the fastest-growing renewable energy market.
For the future plans , the country has set Rs 6 lakh crores target to build more renewable energy plants which would increase the Solar Energy capacity to 1 lakh MW by the year 2022 , said power, coal and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal . The officials also stated that by 2030 the country would be producing the 40% of it's electric power capacity from the renewable energy  plants .
The good news is that the Nation is already on track to achieve these immense targets , which would be a great success for the nation and betterment of the environment.
And if the following is achieved then India would become the world's largest producers of renewable energy .

Thanks for introducing us such a good news from India, Tanverjit. As Heonjun said, renewable energy is always facing a problem of efficiency. However, if the nation keeps researching for better technologies, it may be solved someday in the future. Thanks for sharing such welcoming news and hope you have a great day today!

I recently came across articles that said Norway is, in the opposite, trying to reduce the percentage of power generated by green technology, because it lacked efficiency and that led to waste of tax. But if you put aside northern european countries, I think there's still much more to be improved in most other countries. Thanks for writing!
