Global Zero

by | 01-12-2013 00:57 recommendations 0

Global Zero is the international movement for the elimination of all nuclear weapons worldwide.
Since its launch in Paris in December 2008, Global Zero has grown to include 300 leaders and nearly half a million citizens worldwide, developed a step-by-step plan to eliminate nuclear weapons, built an international student movement with 150 campus chapters in 20 countries, and produced an acclaimed documentary film, "Countdown to Zero."

Political leaders around the world have endorsed Global Zero, with President Obama declaring, ?Global Zero will always have a partner in me and my administration.? Leading newspapers have backed Global Zero?s plan, the Financial Times concluding that, ?Global Zero?s plan has shown the direction to be traveled the world?s leaders must now start moving.?

I'm the president of Global Zero NIT Jamshedpur Chapter. We are working every day to raise awareness among the society via debates, essay competitions, etc.

Next month we would launch an international survey online to check the knowledge and views of people regarding the relevant issues in collaboration with various chapters across South Asia and Europe.

Join the movement!

I fully support the idea of having no nuclear weapons. How about nuclear energy? I heard that some experts are saying we may need to turn to nuclear energy to be less dependent on fossil fuels to get our energy. We should continue to explore all options for cleaner, healthier energy sources.

Global Zero. Sounds great. I agree that there should be no nuclear weapons in the world. I studied about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So awful. We should never allow same thing to happen. We need more peace, not weapons, around the world. Thanks for sharing. Great report.

Oh, thanks for the information about Global Zero. I think that nuclear energy shouldn't be an option for generating electricity. Because it is too risky for human civilization.
